Finance and accounting is one of the most mature, most cost-effective, and least discussed functions in Egypt's outsourcing sector. It doesn't get the attention that customer support or software development do, but the providers are genuinely established and the savings are, if anything, larger than the general benchmark. Here's what the market actually looks like.
The real providers
BDO Esnad has operated in Egypt since 2008 as the outsourcing arm of BDO Egypt, part of the global BDO accounting and consulting network (BDO Esnad). It runs offices in Cairo and Alexandria, specializes in finance and accounting outsourcing and shared-service-center design and management, and works across ERP systems including SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Navision (BDO Esnad). Its client references include Vodafone, AstraZeneca, Novartis, British Petroleum, Allianz, and TAQA, a genuinely blue-chip roster that reflects real, sustained enterprise trust rather than a marketing claim.
Genpact, covered in more detail in our broader guide to Egypt's leading outsourcing companies, remains the deepest global specialist in finance and accounting BPO specifically: loan processing, risk and compliance, capital markets operations, and analytics, with regular recognition from Gartner in the F&A BPO category.
Second Step, a smaller Egypt-based provider operating since 2013, focuses specifically on outsourcing, payroll, finance, and recruitment support for companies expanding across the Middle East and GCC, a useful reference point if your finance function needs are tied to Gulf market operations specifically.
The cost case is stronger here than the general benchmark
Everest Group's 2025 research on finance and accounting outsourcing found Egyptian F&A contracts running 60 to 70% cheaper than equivalent in-house US staffing, a meaningfully wider gap than the 40 to 60% general benchmark often cited for outsourcing to Egypt broadly. We cover the full mechanics of what makes up that cost, base salary, statutory contributions, and management fee, in the real cost of building a team in Egypt; the same structure applies to finance roles, with the underlying salary differential simply being larger for this function than for many others.
What "back office" actually covers
Back-office outsourcing is a broader category than finance and accounting specifically. It typically spans data entry and document processing, order management, HR administrative support, and general operational processing that doesn't require customer-facing interaction. Many providers, including BDO Esnad, deliver both back-office and F&A services through the same shared-service-center model, since the underlying skills, process discipline, ERP familiarity, and reporting accuracy, overlap heavily between the two.
What to check before committing to a provider
1. ERP and systems fit, specifically. Ask which ERP systems the provider's teams actually work in day to day, not just which ones they claim familiarity with. A team fluent in your specific system (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or otherwise) will be productive in weeks rather than months.
2. Reporting cadence and audit trail. Finance work carries compliance weight that generic back-office processing doesn't. Ask specifically how monthly close, reconciliations, and audit documentation are handled, and who signs off internally before anything reaches you.
3. Data security and access controls. Finance data is sensitive by definition. Ask what access controls, data residency practices, and confidentiality terms are actually in place, not just whether the provider is "compliant."
4. Client references you can actually verify. A provider with named, checkable enterprise clients (the way BDO Esnad's roster is publicly documented) is a different proposition from one that only offers anonymized case studies.
5. Whether you need volume processing or senior expertise. This is the most important distinction. A shared-service-center model is built for transaction volume at consistent quality. If what you actually need is a senior controller or FP&A analyst who thinks alongside your existing finance team rather than processing a queue, that's a different hiring problem entirely.
Where Atlas Partners fits
The providers above are genuinely strong at what they do, high-volume, process-driven finance and accounting operations with enterprise-grade governance. That is not our specialty, and we would rather say so directly than blur the distinction. What we place is a smaller number of senior finance professionals, often internationally educated and returned to Egypt by choice, working as embedded members of your existing finance function rather than a separate processing center. We describe that talent segment in detail in the Egyptian talent pool most companies never reach.
Where this leaves you
If your need is high-volume, standardized finance and accounting processing with established enterprise governance, BDO Esnad, Genpact, and similar providers are the right category to be evaluating, and Egypt's cost advantage in this specific function is larger than the general outsourcing benchmark. If your need is a small number of senior finance hires who can operate at a genuinely international standard while living in Egypt, that's a different conversation, and the one we're built for.
See our services for our specific approach, read how to hire a dedicated team without setting up a local entity if you're earlier in the decision, or get in touch and tell us which of these two problems you're actually solving.
